This week we completed a Mystery Science activity exploring the question, "Why is there sand on the beach?" Students had great discussion and we thought of multiple different ideas. Then, students acted as a river and modeled the process of rocks moving down a river during a rainstorm, breaking down into smaller pieces until they eventually became sand on a beach. We then looked at different colored sands/beaches and discussed what we knew about the rocks that created that sand. Check out pictures below!

Today we completed a teamwork problem solving challenge. Sam the (gummy) worm was relaxing on his boat when it capsized! His lifesaver was stuck under the boat, and students had to work with a partner to retrieve the life jacket and put it on Sam all while using only 2 paper clips. Students did a great job communicating and showed perseverance when trying multiple ways to save Sam. Check out pictures below! |
