Check out our landform projects! Students worked with a partner to research a landform. Students used different websites and found facts that they thought were important. They then worked to create a paragraph about their landform. After the writing was done, students each got to create and paint a model of that landform out of clay. We proudly had them displayed for Parent-Teacher Conferences.

We had a fun Halloween! We started a writing project last week where students designed a paper pumpkin to fit one of the following categories: Scariest, Prettiest, Friendliest, and Silliest. Students were not allowed to see anyone else's pumpkins or know who created which pumpkin. Students then had to write an opinion piece on why their pumpkin was the ________. Students tried to convince readers to vote for their pumpkin. The day before Halloween, we read them and voted with Mrs. Veeser's class. Each pumpkin was numbered by category and we showed each pumpkin and read the opinion writing. After all were presented in each category, students voted for their favorite. On Halloween, 2nd and 3rd grade classes got the opportunity to trick-or-treat at Pinecrest and Whispering Pines. We discussed as a class that students would be getting a lot of candy, but we would also be "making OTHER people smile." The class was excited over the idea of making others have a good Halloween too. Students had a great time and we appreciated the time and effort that went into having us visit. We then finished our day with the Annual Halloween Parade, and a BUNCH of snacks in the classroom. It was a fun, SUGAR filled day! |
